The Dutch Authority for Consumers & Markets (ACM) has approved the license request for Floriway. With this, the shaping of the company Floriway and the integration of the participating transport companies can officially start.
The partnership was announced in November 2020. In the meantime, the ACM has carefully investigated the intended joining of forces in accordance with a customary procedure, with a positive outcome as a result.
With its participation in Floriway, Van Zaal Transport joins the top of floriculture logistics and the logistics service provider goes from specialist to total player in one fell swoop. Merijn van Zaal, founder of Van Zaal Transport: “By joining forces with De Winter Logistics, Wematrans and Royal FloraHolland, we will be able to serve our customers even better. We look forward to building the most optimal chain for floriculture together.”
You can find out more about the diesel surcharge on the 'Diesel surcharge' page under the heading 'News' on our website.
Other leading transport companies and Royal FloraHolland will also become part of Floriway. The companies will work together to build the most optimal chain for floriculture. Employees keep their jobs and will be part of this new company as well.
From specialist to total player
With this step Van Zaal goes from specialist to total player. The logistics service provider was already strong in sustainability, efficiency and customer focus. By combining forces, they take this to the next level. Merijn van Zaal, founder of Van Zaal Transport: “We see this as a great, but also essential step. Floriculture logistics continues to develop. In order to be future-proof as a company, we have to join forces. In this way we safeguard the future of our company for our employees and we can continue to respond to the wishes of our customers. ”
No changes in the near future
For the time being, however, Van Zaal Transport will continue to operate independently, under its own name and for its own customers. Customers will therefore not notice any changes in the near future. They will run the upcoming high season as usual. After that, the various parties will gradually work together in a more integrated way.
Future benefits
In the future, joining forces will provide benefits for customers. Merijn van Zaal: “For our national distribution this leads to more efficiency, such as a higher load factor. For growers and buyers this means that they will be able to be served even better at the time and location they want, both for transactions via the clock and for direct trade. ” The step has no influence on commercial space rental and warehousing.
Relevant parties informed
Van Zaal Transport has informed all relevant parties about the news. Employees and temporary workers are of course the first to be informed. After that, customers and suppliers were informed. If you have any questions about this news, please do not hesitate to contact toekomst@vzt.nl.
